Implants transmit that stimulation to the bone the way natural roots did, which helps preserve jaw structure over time.

Maintenance and daily experience. Dentures come out for cleaning and require adhesive; All-on-4 restorations are fixed in place and cared for more like natural teeth, with brushing and specialized flossing tools.

Cost and timeline. Traditional dentures are less expensive upfront and quicker to deliver. All-on-4 involves surgical placement and a healing period, with a higher upfront investment — but many patients find the improved function, comfort, and long-term bone preservation worth the difference, especially compared to the cumulative cost of denture relines and replacements over a decade or more.

The honest tradeoff: dentures are a reasonable option for patients who aren’t candidates for surgery or want to avoid the upfront cost; All-on-4 is the stronger long-term option for patients focused on function, comfort, and jawbone preservation who are healthy enough for the surgical procedure.
